Oh my, it’s been a hot minute since my last post. For the first time in what seems like a while, I am happy, and apparently, it seems, I have less to blog about when I’m happy.
Don’t get me wrong, I still want this trip to happen. I want to experience the world, and I will in no way stop saving for it to happen. In the mean time, however, I won’t stop living my life waiting for my dreams to become a reality.
I have to make them a reality, and for the last two months, I’ve been saving pretty diligently. Here’s a recap of February:
*Bulk transferring in mass: If I get any extra unexpected cash during the month, i go ahead and transfer it without giving it a second thought. Most if the time, I won’t really miss it that way.
*Money Saving Challenges As I mentioned last month, I’m doing both the Penny a Day Challenge and 52 Week Challenge. Between January and February’s deposits, there was already a $15 jump (from $30 in January to $45 in February).
*Rollover from January: In January, I did a couple odd jobs that I didn’t collect on until mid-month February.
Total for February: $577
It’s still not a lot, but it’s $577 more dollars than I had set aside this time a month ago.
** Happy Valentine’s Day!! This post isn’t really what I had planned for today, but such is life. I guess this is what happens when your Internet craps out (or more like your computer’s wireless receiver). Otherwise, this would have been a much lovey dovey-er type pose
Weaknesses. We all have them. Unfortunately, this means that not even I am above them, especially when they pertain to eating out and running races (and maybe cookies too). Continue reading →
And just like that, January is gone. Well, actually, it’s two days gone at this point, and Happy Groundhogs Day with that. Fortunately for my wallet, though unfortunately for me, Punxsutawney Phil (aka the groundhog) saw his shadow today… yaaaay for six more weeks of winter (sarcasm). Continue reading →
Resolutions. We all make them this time of year. For many, as depicted by the abundance of gym bags being towed to work this week compared to last, it’s the standard lose weight, work out mantra. For other, like myself, … Continue reading →
I’m stuck in a permanent state of wanderlust. In the past year, I’ve left my old job – the root of much unhappiness and discontent — for a new one and managed to travel to a number of far off … Continue reading →
Hold the presses — I did it! I actually did it. I opened a savings account. I can now actually say that I am a whopping $500 closer to my end goal: Travel. Bali. The World. Ok, well, I might … Continue reading →
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to fund this trip. To be frank, it would take me a long-ass time to save enough money (for now, $15k like the infographic). I make $30,000 a year. I … Continue reading →
It’s 12am, Saturday, June 23, and I am not $79 worse for wear, which means I didn’t purchase the swoop for an online TESOL/TEFL certification. In theory, it’d be a great idea– supplementing my travel expenses (or at least some of them) … Continue reading →
Though I haven’t had much of an opportunity to get into it (read: this is only my second post), I’m currently working on ways to budget for this trip of mine. Ideally, I’d like to do things like WWOOF or CouchSurf … Continue reading →
