Motivational Monday: Craving Warm, Sandy Beaches

Warmth. I miss the warmth. It’s my third winter here in Chicago, and dreadfully, it’s been the worst (i.e first typical Chicago winter) thus far. I don’t like it Sam I Am. I do not like green eggs and ham (or never-ending winters).

Chilled to core despite several mugs of tea, today’s Motivational Monday is, without a doubt, the toasty beaches (hellllloo, average yearly temperature of 84F) and Mayan ruins of Belize.

I don’t know how to scuba dive, but for Belize, I would learn. From the stalactites of the Great Blue Hole to the 80 degree waters in general, Belize is said to be divers paradise. Even with my somewhat questionable swimming skills, it’s something I would love to experience first hand!

A few years ago, my family went on a mini-reunion trip to Cancun. At the time, tourists were still able to climb El Castillo at Chichen Itza, the largest archaeological cities of the pre-Colombian Maya civilization. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to make it, and though I wasn’t particularly bummed at the time, I am now.

Luckily, Belize hosts a vast number of Maya temple sites — Caracol, Xunantunich and Altun Ha, among others — so whenever my travels eventually lead me to Belize, I’ll be making sure that at least a few of things make it on to my to do list!

Nom, nom, nom.

As a foodie, I’m always excited to test the local fare. So, Belize, show me your best!
